Planning for a documentary on GHG Efforts

In one of the GHG committee meetings it was discussed to produce a documentary on the GHG work. Intend is to grow awareness amongst stakeholders and society about the work and also get more sponsorships.

Jaswinder compiled initial points to be covered in the CD.

Points to be covered in CD:

• Total documentary size should be in between 10 to 15 min.
• Shooting of all 3 hills (Current plantation status, people working on hill…)
• Science and Research in GH plantation by Mr. Takalkar. Slide explaining it will be use full.
• Can add animated part to explain how trenches are use full in rain water harvesting, soil erosion control and for survival of trees.
• Cover Newspaper articles and TV news related to GH
• Show old state and new state photos of hills.
• Vision of GH should be included
• Can include small inspirational story at the start to explain the fragile earth environment and how human activities are affecting it, also how GH is acting as a key in trying to maintain a balance.
• Show how Pune is blessed by surrounding hills (Lungs of the city). Show one or two barren hills and how  garbage is being dumped on it and show how soil erosion is taking place.
• Show some statistics about Pune temperature and impact of increase in population on eco system . (Some animation should be help full)
• Show importance of native plants in protecting eco system (animation).
• Some statistics on ground water depletion in Pune in last twenty years (animation will do).
• Health benefit of climbing the hill. Mental satisfaction, stress buster .(Needed to motivate people to join us)
• Partnership model  with corporate.
• Thanks to Chatuhshrungi devsthan, ARAI, PMC, Deccan society, Forest department etc.
• Scrolling list of donors at the end.

Sanjay added following points-
How rock is being converted to soil by dried leaves and grass on Hanuman tekdi hill.

2. How replantation of fallen trees is done at Hanuman tekdi hill.

3. How new soil is being created by "Nirmalya" and bio-waste on Chatushrungi hill.

4. How low cost drip irrigation is being used.

In the working model section we need to stress below points as well.

5. How local corporators (nagar sevak) , PMC ,local people,corporates , local institutes (colleges ) have came together  on Hanuman tekdi hill.

6. How corporates (including local builders), local people (including wireless police ,scholarship girls  from Vaiduwadi , Local shephards,colleges etc)  have came together on Chatushrungi hill.

7. How Corporates , Forest department and Local people have came together on ARAI hill.

I also responded with following message-
About quantifying the results that Green Hills is producing... we should probably have some way of measuring results so that we will be able to track how the greening is bringing about changes. For example - temperature on Hanuman Tekdi Hill top - observe the temperature change over a period of 2 years. OR number of birds today at Chatushrungi vs 2 years later OR amount of water flowing in storm water drainage today on Paud road from MIT/ARAI Hilltop vs water flowing after 2 years. If we can get some technical help to do these measurements and project them effectively, our message will be much stronger, convincing and based on concrete source of information. Of course all this cannot be brought in the CD that we are doing in next few weeks, we need to plan for all this so that we can include it in next edition / release.
